BARU Breaks Ground: Ranks Among Top Young Universities Worldwide

Bartın University (BARU) managed to rank in the top 400 in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) “2024 Young University Rankings”. BARU became the best state university in Turkey in the “Research Quality Category”.

The “2024 Young Universities Ranking” of the UK-based higher education rating organization, Times Higher Education (THE), which includes the world's best young universities, was announced. In the list of the world's best universities from 79 countries with an age of 50 and below, Bartın University (BARU) achieved a great success by entering the 351-400 band in the 15th year of its establishment.

BARU, which has achieved a significant acceleration in the fields of education, research and social responsibility, shared the 8th place with 3 universities from Turkey among 80 universities. In the evaluation among state universities, BARU made us proud by sharing the 3rd place with a university. 


BARU ranked 188th in the world and 4th in Turkey in terms of research quality
In the ranking, where higher education institutions are evaluated in terms of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook, BARU succeeded in entering the top 200 in the world with its performance in the field of research. BARU, which ranked 188th in the world with this ranking, was ranked 4th in Turkey and first among state universities in the same field. BARU has once again demonstrated its sustainable development with its performance in other fields.

BARU Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun stated that they have made a development to be proud of with a labor-intensive effort and said, “We continue our journey to the future with our successes in the international arena and the collaborations we have made. In this process that we progress by learning from each other, we are making significant progress together with all our stakeholders. I believe that our place in this ranking, which we have entered by taking into account the past 5 years, will rise much higher in the upcoming years.  I congratulate all our stakeholders together with the BARU family, including our students, graduates, academic and administrative human resources who contribute to this process, and I sincerely believe that our success will increase exponentially in the coming periods.”

“Our university is an important achievement of the Turkish Century”
Rector Uzun also referred to the importance of the success of the university in the 15th year of its establishment and said, “As a 15-year-old higher education institution, we are blinking at the future with the performance shown. Our University, which takes decisive steps into the future with the goal of sustainable improvement, will continue to add value to the Turkish Century. With these thoughts, I would like to express my gratitude to our Minister of Justice, Mr. Yılmaz Tunç, who has always been with us and always motivated us in our march to the future. I would like to thank our Higher Education Council President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and our Higher Education Council members for their support in our quality-oriented journey that we strive for with the goal of sustainable development. I would also like to thank all our stakeholders, especially Bartın Governor Dr. Nurtaç Arslan, for their contributions to the creation of the current ecosystem by maximizing the harmony and coordination among institutions in our province.”
